Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up within a multiethnic household. Jacqueline Fernandez's mom Kim and father Elroy were both born in Malaysia. There are two brothers younger than her and one older sister. Due to unrest in the country, her parents moved to Bahrain in the early 1980s. After completing the schooling in Bahrain she won an Scholarship at the University of Sydney to pursue a Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. Having a passion for cultures and languages she also took part in the Berlitz school of languages, in which she was able to learn Spanish and improved her French as well as Arabic. In 2006 she was named the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March 2006 and also competed at Miss Universe 2006. Her first appearance on television was after she won her the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her program, Lanka Business Report, covers Sri Lankan business. Padukone, the daughter of badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and grew up in Bangalore. As a teenager, she played badminton in national level championships but left her career in the sport to become a fashion model. Padukone hails from Mangalore and her mother tongue is Konkani. Padukone is a village within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone has retired as an internationally renowned badminton athlete, while her mother is also a travel consultant.
